…crack in the sky, and a hand reaching down to me…

“Trouble, Oh, Trouble set me free.”

I realize it’s probably a little strange to quote Bowie and then follow that up with a Cat Stevens quote – but what do you expect at this point? Really?

These last few weeks of December have become, for me, a time of ritual.  The purging of the old ways of doing things to make room for the new.  For the first time, ever, I am treating this new year with the classic intent – resolutions.  I have never made a New Years resolution in my life.  This year, however, all of that is about to change.

I have approached the past few weeks as my Fear And Loathing experience. Massive amounts of craziness with some fun thrown in for good measure.  Celebration and admiration. Extravagance and revolt. Party til you puke kind of thing.  Enjoying the last stages of what was one of the worst periods of my life.  Taking charge and making sure they end well.  Every year I hear someone say, “This is going to be a good year,” and it never is.  This year, I am the one saying it and I intend to make it so.

In my first ever “holiday message” I would like to say Happy Holidays, and a joyous New Year.  May you be surrounded by family, friends and loved ones in any form for all the rest of your days.

Much love, m
